About Me

Hola! I’m Lavi (pronounced like “lovey dovey”. And yes, I’ve heard every love-related nickname in the book). In March 2014, I quit my job in corporate finance and moved out of NYC to follow my dream of traveling the world. I was seriously bit by the travel bug a few years ago when I started traveling solo and finally decided that “Corporate America” just isn’t for me. I’ve explored parts of South America, Asia, Africa, and Europe. I have no idea where this journey will take me, but that’s the fun part, isn’t it? I hope you’ll buckle up and enjoy the ride with me!

At Monasterio de Piedra

Lavi was here is not about ticking destinations off of a bucket list. I want my experiences to inspire solo travel and encourage the desk job daydreamers to follow their travel passions. Lavi was here aims to motivate travelers to get lost in the culture, history, and wonder that this world has to offer.

Stay curious and keep wandering, my friends.

You should be proud of yourself. You are very brave. Work is going to be there rest of your life. But this opportunity hardly knock the door. Just enjoy and let us know your experience.

It’s always good to go back to childhood place. We have so many good memories. I’m glad you are handling all comments from uncle and aunty with smile. That’s why Indian people don’t have stress. They love to ask anything and tell you about their personal life. Your mom and me talk almost every day. She is doing fine. She is very proud of your adventure. My heartiest congratulation for your new job.

    Take care.
    Love you purnima aunty.

You’re right, Indian people are so happy and are never stressed! I’m trying to learn to be like that. Thanks for the well wishes!

I absolutely love hearing stories like these! Going full force into it. Quitting your job, moving and following your dream of traveling the world. All without knowing exactly how it will turn out. It is a similar story I read that got me out the door in the first place. People taking such drastic action to fulfill their dreams is extremely inspiring. Can’t wait to see how things unfold!

Thanks for the encouragement, Dave! There’s no turning back now! I don’t think I’ll ever regret this decision to follow my passion. I read your Travel Challenge post on self-discipline – this is a great idea! How’s it working out for you? I think I’m going have to come up with a few travel challenges for myself!

I just found your blog and I wish I would have known you two years ago. I spent the last two years teaching English in Spain and traveled all over Europe on my own. I have yet to conquer Asia, South America, or Africa but they are on my bucket list, along with Australia and New Zealand. I headed back to the States and I am so miserable at my 9-5 job. I applied to go back to Spain and I am headed to Islas Baleares in the fall. I should get my travel blog up and running since I have so many pictures to share.
I cant wait to check out all your posts.
Are you staying another year in Madrid?

Hi Yesenia, I wish we could have met in Spain! I’ll be leaving Madrid in July and heading to Central America in the fall. I would have loved to continue working in Madrid, but there’s so much more that I want to explore in the world! I think you should start a blog; I’d love to read about your travels and see your photos since it sounds like you’ve been all over! Where will you be living in Islas Baleares? I’ve been wanting to go there but I haven’t found the right flight yet!
Best of luck to you with the exciting year you have ahead of you!
